Partner John M. Spellman has over thirty-five years experience in municipal law, zoning and land use, SEQRA, real estate law and inter-governmental law.
Mr. Spellman began the practice of law as an assistant to Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Bernard F. McCaffrey, and in 1978, Mr. Spellman began a private practice which has since evolved into the current partnership.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Spellman has served as point person for a number of high profile projects, including the $180 million Mineola LIRR Grade Crossing Elimination Project and the $40 million Mineola Intermodal Center. Although his principal practice area involves municipal work, Mr. Spellman also has significant experience in adoption law, and has also been sent on special assignment to Scotland and England by the Surrogate’s Court to participate in estate proceedings overseas.
